Free Taho and a Few Thousand Cameras: CameraHaus at the Fujifilm Nationwide Photo and Video Walk 2026
Some events you organise. Some you simply show up for, because the community you serve is all going to be in one place at the same time. On August 15, 2026, the photography community of Manila was at Fort Santiago for the Manila City leg of the Fujifilm Nationwide Photo and Video Walk, one of 35 cities walking on the same morning. CameraHaus went to support it, to cheer, and to make sure nobody walked the Walled City hungry. We brought taho. A lot of taho.
The biggest photowalk in the country
The Fujifilm Nationwide Photo and Video Walk is the largest photography and videography community event in the Philippines, and 2026 was its biggest edition yet. Thirty-five cities. More than eighty community leaders. Thousands of photographers and videographers walking their own streets on the same day, each city with its own meetup, its own route, and the same contest theme revealed at the on-site briefing. The 2026 edition was timed to World Photography Day and the 200th anniversary of the earliest surviving photograph, which is a good reason to walk if you needed one.
The walk is open to everyone, on any camera. That is the part we love about it. Fujifilm shooters had their own exclusive contest categories, but the crowd at Fort Santiago carried every brand there is, plus a great many phones. Nobody checked.
Why Fort Santiago mattered to us
Two weeks before the walk, CameraHaus had been inside Fort Santiago for a very different reason. Together with the Intramuros Administration we ran a three-day workshop for every security officer in the Walled City, on how to welcome photographers instead of turning them away. So when thousands of photographers poured through the gates of Intramuros on August 15, cameras out, and were met with smiles and directions instead of "bawal mag-shoot dito," it felt like watching the point of that workshop happen in real time.
The taho
We did not bring a booth. We did not bring a sales pitch. We brought a taho vendor, the traditional stainless pots, the wooden ladle, and enough silken tofu, arnibal, and sago to keep going for as long as the line did. Free, for every participant, all morning.
If you have never had taho on a photowalk, it is the correct food for it. Warm, sweet, one hand, done in four minutes, and it does not get on your camera. The vendor became a landmark. People arranged to meet "at the CameraHaus taho." Photographers who had walked past each other for an hour finally spoke while waiting for the ladle.
The people
The best part of a nationwide walk is who you run into. Old customers. Photographers we had met at CH Camp and Point & Go a few weeks earlier. Community leaders we had only ever seen on a screen. And the Fujifilm Philippines team, who had spent months making thirty-five simultaneous meetups happen and still had time to stop for a photo.
What we took home
Not every event needs a CameraHaus booth. Sometimes the best thing a camera store can do is stand in the crowd and feed it.
Thousands of cameras walked through the Walled City and were welcomed. The work with the Intramuros Administration is paying off.
The walk was open to every brand and every phone. That is how a community grows.
