GR Meet V
Binondo Church Photowalk Simbang Gabi Night Walk with the GR Community
Held on December 19 in Binondo, Manila, GR Meet V gathered the community for a Simbang Gabi themed night photowalk focused on low light photography, shared stories, and pushing the limits of the GR.
Gathering at CBK Cafe
The evening began at CBK Cafe in Binondo, where members gathered for dinner before heading out. Cameras rested on tables as conversations flowed easily, filled with stories, laughter, and familiar faces reconnecting.
It was a relaxed and welcoming start. New members were introduced, old friends caught up, and the atmosphere felt more like a reunion than a formal event.
After dinner and a few short talks, the group prepared their gear and stepped out into the night, ready to photograph the streets during Simbang Gabi.
A Meaningful Workshop
Before the photowalk began, the community gathered for a short workshop led by Angelo Gian De Mesa.
His talk centered on accumulating memories through photography, reminding everyone that photographs are not just images, but records of time, emotion, and personal experience.
A First Look at the GR IV HDF
One of the biggest highlights of the night was a historic moment for the community. The GR Philippines group became the first to see the newly released GR IV HDF.
Members gathered closely as the camera was presented, eager to see how the newest GR continues the legacy while refining performance for real world shooting.
Simbang Gabi Photowalk
The event was intentionally pushed into the night to test the limits of the GR’s APS-C sensor. Church lights, street lamps, candle glow, and passing headlights became the main sources of illumination.
Even in low light conditions, the GR cameras delivered clean, detailed images, proving their reliability for real life situations beyond daylight shooting.
Closing the Night
The photowalk ended with one last gathering and a final group photo. Memory cards were full, batteries were drained, and legs were tired, but everyone left with new images and shared memories.
GR Meet V showed that the GR is built for real life at any hour, and that the strength of the community comes from experiencing and creating together.
