Ricoh WG-8: 20 Megapixels, 4K Video and GPS in a Camera That Dives to 20 Metres
A serious all-weather compact camera for divers, field workers and outdoor families: waterproof to 20 metres, shockproof from 2.1 metres, with a 3-inch screen, GPS logging and a ring of LED macro lights.
Who Is This Made For?
The WG-8 is for people who take a camera where phones fail: scuba and freediving, construction and survey sites, mountain trips and long days on the water. GPS and compass data are recorded with every shot, so it doubles as a documentation tool. If you want the toughest Ricoh camera in the WG line, this is it.
Waterproof to 20 Metres, Shockproof, Crushproof, Freezeproof
Sealed to JIS Class 8, the WG-8 shoots at depths of up to 20 metres and shrugs off a 2.1-metre drop, 100 kgf of pressure and temperatures down to -10°C. The IP6X dust rating keeps grit out on building sites and beaches.
20MP Stills and 4K Video from a 5x Zoom
A 20-megapixel sensor and a 28 to 140mm equivalent zoom cover wide scenes and distant subjects, while 4K video captures the trip in full detail. Six LED ring lights around the lens light up 1cm macro shots and the Digital Microscope mode.
GPS, GLONASS and Electronic Compass Built In
Position, altitude, heading and time can be imprinted on each image and logged as a track, which is why the WG-8 is popular with surveyors, researchers and hikers who need to know exactly where a photo was taken.
A 3-Inch Screen Built for Gloves and Glare
The large 3-inch, 1040K-dot LCD has an anti-reflection coating and an Outdoor View Setting for bright sun, and the oversized buttons are easy to press with gloves on. The camera also works as a USB webcam for site reports and calls.
Underwater Modes That Get the Colour Right
Underwater and Underwater Movie modes correct the blue cast automatically, and the Flash Off + Flash On option records two versions of a shot with one press so you can pick the better one later.
