Canon EF 28mm F2.8 IS USM: A Compact Stabilised 28mm
A prime camera lens for Canon EF mount with an F2.8 maximum aperture, 28mm on full frame, weighing 260g. It is optically stabilised, and built to resolve the detail of Canon's latest sensors.
Who Is This Made For?
The EF 28mm F2.8 IS USM is for street, documentary, travel and environmental portrait photographers who want a natural, slightly wide view. It is small enough to leave on the camera all day, and its F2.8 maximum aperture gives plenty of light for evenings and interiors.
Optics Designed for High-Resolution Sensors
The EF 28mm F2.8 IS USM uses 9 elements in 7 groups. Aspherical and UD elements keep edges sharp and colour fringing low, and Super Spectra coatings control flare and ghosting. The diagonal angle of view is 75°00′.
Bright Aperture, Smooth Bokeh
The F2.8 maximum aperture and 7-blade circular diaphragm produce smooth background blur and clean specular highlights. Minimum aperture is F22.
Fast, Quiet Autofocus
Ring-type USM delivers fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override. Closest focus is 0.23m with a maximum magnification of 0.20x.
Optically Stabilised
The lens is fitted with optical Image Stabilizer rated up to 4 stops, which combines with in-body IS on EOS R bodies for even steadier handheld shooting. It measures 68.4 x 51.5mm and weighs approximately 260g, and takes 58mm filters.
