The RF-S 7.8mm F4 Dual STM is for creators making immersive VR and 3D content for headsets and spatial video platforms, using a single EOS R body. It is small enough to leave on the camera all day, and its compact design keeps the kit light.
Optics Designed for High-Resolution Sensors
The RF-S 7.8mm F4 Dual STM uses 9 elements in 7 groups. Aspherical and UD elements keep edges sharp and colour fringing low, and Super Spectra coatings control flare and ghosting. The diagonal angle of view is 63°00′.
Two Lenses, One Sensor, Instant 3D
Twin fisheye optics project a stereoscopic pair onto a single sensor, so VR and 3D content is captured in one file with perfect sync and no rig. Canon's EOS VR Utility and plug-ins convert the footage for headsets and spatial video platforms.
Compact Design, Consistent Rendering
The F4 maximum aperture and 7-blade circular diaphragm produce smooth background blur and clean specular highlights. The RF control ring can be assigned to aperture, ISO or exposure compensation for direct control. Minimum aperture is F16.
Fast, Quiet Autofocus
A stepping motor delivers smooth, quiet autofocus suited to stills and video. Closest focus is 0.15m with a maximum magnification of 0.07xx.
Weather Sealed
The lens is sealed against dust and moisture. It measures 69.2 x 41.5mm and weighs approximately 131g, and takes 58mm filters.
