Canon RF 28mm F2.8 STM: The Pancake That Keeps EOS R Pocketable
A prime camera lens for Canon RF mount with an F2.8 maximum aperture, 28mm on full frame, weighing 120g. It is built to resolve the detail of Canon's latest sensors.
Who Is This Made For?
The RF 28mm F2.8 STM is for street, documentary, travel and environmental portrait photographers who want a natural, slightly wide view. It is small enough to leave on the camera all day, and its F2.8 maximum aperture gives plenty of light for evenings and interiors.
Optics Designed for High-Resolution Sensors
The RF 28mm F2.8 STM uses 8 elements in 6 groups. Aspherical and UD elements keep edges sharp and colour fringing low, and Super Spectra coatings control flare and ghosting. The diagonal angle of view is 75°.
Bright Aperture, Smooth Bokeh
The F2.8 maximum aperture and 7-blade circular diaphragm produce smooth background blur and clean specular highlights. The RF control ring can be assigned to aperture, ISO or exposure compensation for direct control. Minimum aperture is F22.
Fast, Quiet Autofocus
A stepping motor delivers smooth, quiet autofocus suited to stills and video. Closest focus is 0.23m with a maximum magnification of 0.17x.
Compact and Light
The lens is built with a lightweight, precise barrel and a smooth manual focus ring. It measures 69.2 × 24.7 (retracted)mm and weighs approximately 120g, and takes 55mm filters.
