Optics Designed for High-Resolution Sensors
The Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS uses 9 elements in 8 groups (4 aspherical, 2 ED). Aspherical and ED elements keep edges sharp and colour fringing low, and Panasonic's coatings control flare and ghosting for clear, high-contrast images. The angle of view is 75° to 29°.
Compact Design, Consistent Rendering
The F3.5-5.6 maximum aperture and 7 blades circular diaphragm produce smooth background blur and clean specular highlights. Minimum aperture is F22.
Fast, Quiet Autofocus
A stepping motor drives the focus group for fast, near-silent autofocus, with 240 fps sensor drive on Lumix G bodies and smooth focusing for video. Closest focus is 0.2 m with a maximum magnification of 0.17x. The built-in power zoom changes focal length smoothly at variable speed from the barrel switch or the camera, ideal for video.
Optically Stabilised
The lens is fitted with optical image stabilisation that combines with body I.S. on Lumix cameras as Dual I.S. 2 for steadier handheld shooting. It measures 61.0 mm x 26.8 mm and weighs approximately 95 g, and takes 37 mm filters.
